The Tumu Municipal Hospital's Maternity unit has received a new delivery bed and light to support its operations. The hospital has been grappling with several challenges, including a deplorable maternity ward with almost all beds broken down. The new bed was donated by a group of individuals who describe themselves as friends of the Member of Parliament for Sissala East. This donation is expected to provide some relief to women using the delivery room.

The Tumu Municipal Hospital's maternity ward is in a poor state, with beds that are not only in poor condition but also too small to comfortably accommodate women during delivery. Acting Nurse Manager at the facility, Cicelia Haluri Iddrisu, says the situation is putting considerable strain on the hospital's operations. The limited space in the maternity ward makes it difficult for the facility to accommodate more women at the same time.

The donors, who include Funda Gocuk and Sandra Kodimah, stated that seeing people in the area struggle to access proper care due to the poor state of the ward prompted them to support the hospital. They expressed that the government should be giving the necessary help, but since they don't always do it, individuals have to step in to assist. Their donation is aimed at improving maternity care in the area.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Medical Superintendent, Dr. Raymond Danso, Head of Pharmacy, Johnson Yandanbil, commended the donors for their timely intervention. He noted that the hospital conducts over 100 deliveries in a month and that this donation has come at the right time. However, he also mentioned that the hospital continues to face several other challenges that require urgent attention, including the lack of a dedicated children's ward.

The Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Mohammed Issah Bataglia, expressed gratitude to the donors for their support and assured the hospital of further interventions to help address some of its outstanding needs. He appreciated their efforts, describing them as doing very little things that are having a great impact on the people.

The hospital's challenges are not limited to the maternity ward. There is also the issue of malfunctioning machines, which has raised concerns about the safety of patients. Health officials have warned of the dangers posed by these malfunctioning machines, and there have been calls for urgent action to address the situation.

The donation of the new delivery bed is a step towards addressing some of the hospital's challenges, but much more needs to be done to ensure that the hospital can provide adequate care to its patients. The hospital's management and stakeholders will need to continue to work together to address the outstanding needs and provide a safe and conducive environment for patients.
