He mentioned improved access to schools, electricity, and online learning materials as significant advancements. However, he expressed worry that if teachers continue to be on strike, it will cause harm to young learners.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency to some schools in the Ada East District observed a skeletal teaching presence at some schools, while teaching activities appeared limited. Some pupils were seen engaging in games during what would ordinarily be a busy period of classroom instruction. Students reportedly returned home before the usual closing time, indicating the impact of the strike on educational activities.
Mr. Kabutey appealed to the Ministry of Education and the government to consider the concerns of parents and pupils and work towards resolving the issues with the teacher unions. He stressed the importance of finding a solution to the strike to prevent further harm to the education of children.
