The Tshuapa provincial authorities have closed a two-day workshop aimed at developing an educational roadmap for 2026-2027. The workshop, which was held in Boende, brought together education managers, inspectors, and cadres from the Tshuapa 1 and Tshuapa 2 Education and National Teacher Payroll Control Directorate. The initiative was led by Provincial Minister of National Education, Fidèle Likombe Efinda.

During the workshop, participants reviewed the current state of the education sector in Tshuapa, identifying several challenges. These challenges include non-compliance with disciplinary procedures, lack of ethics and professionalism, and failure to apply statutory texts by education managers. Other issues include recurrent conflicts in conventional schools, disregard for the school map, and difficulties with teacher payroll bank transfers.

Minister Likombe Efinda stated that the workshop provided an opportunity for an honest assessment of the problems affecting the education sector in Tshuapa. He noted that the identified issues were a result of a lack of discipline, rather than a lack of resources. The minister emphasized that the 2026-2027 roadmap would only be effective if its provisions were enforced, including sanctions for non-compliance.

The workshop concluded with a commitment from the Interim Governor, Albert Bokongo Bokoma, to closely monitor the implementation of the resolutions. He assured the education stakeholders that he would ensure the proper appointment of school administrators, in line with existing regulations. The governor also appealed to union leaders to avoid strikes and disruptions to the academic calendar.

Governor Bokongo emphasized that the school system should not be used as a bargaining chip and that strikes should be an exception rather than the norm. He urged stakeholders to prioritize the interests of students and maintain peace in the education sector. The provincial government aims to promote stability and improve the quality of education in Tshuapa.

The two-day workshop provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss and address the challenges facing the education sector in Tshuapa. The resolutions and recommendations from the workshop are expected to inform the development of the 2026-2027 educational roadmap. The roadmap is intended to guide the sector's growth and improvement over the next academic year.

The Tshuapa provincial authorities' efforts to address the challenges in the education sector have been welcomed by stakeholders. The implementation of the roadmap and the monitoring of its provisions will be crucial in ensuring that the necessary reforms are carried out. The success of these initiatives will depend on the collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders involved.
