A delegation from Care Bénin-Togo, led by Country Director Guillaume Aguettant, recently visited the Centrale region of Togo to evaluate the organization's projects, including the "Girls Empowerment" initiative. The visit aimed to assess the impact of the project on adolescent girls and young women in the region. The delegation met with nine partner organizations to discuss their actions and results within the project's framework. This project, launched in 2025, focuses on empowering vulnerable adolescents and young women aged 10-24 in Benin and Togo.
The delegation participated in a meeting on October 28 at Sokodé's "Bon Secours" health center, where they discussed the implementation of the Community Performance Card (CPC) approach. This approach enables communities and healthcare providers to jointly evaluate the accessibility, reception, and quality of sexual and reproductive health services. The meeting resulted in an action plan to improve services at the health center, ensuring adolescent girls and young women can easily access family planning methods. The CPC approach is one of four intervention strategies employed by Care Bénin-Togo.
The "Girls Empowerment" project, funded by Care Bénin-Togo, aims to contribute to the empowerment of vulnerable adolescents and young women in Benin and Togo. The project covers the Kara and Centrale regions and promotes sexual and reproductive health, economic empowerment, and socio-professional integration. According to Lawson-Hellu Latévi, a specialist in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning at Care Bénin-Togo, the project has already achieved significant results in various areas, including empowerment, health, and community mobilization.
During their visit, the delegation met with three young women, two of whom benefited from a vocational training program in a weaving center. The delegation expressed satisfaction with the positive changes observed in the lives of the beneficiaries and hopes for their complete satisfaction by the project's end on December 31, 2027. The visit allowed the delegation to assess the project's progress and identify areas for improvement.
The Community Performance Card approach has proven effective in enabling communities to evaluate and improve health services. By involving communities in the evaluation process, the approach ensures that their needs and concerns are addressed. The action plan developed during the meeting will be implemented to enhance services at the "Bon Secours" health center.
Care Bénin-Togo's "Girls Empowerment" project focuses on promoting sexual and reproductive health, economic empowerment, and socio-professional integration among adolescent girls and young women. The project's impact is expected to be significant, given its comprehensive approach and the involvement of local communities. The delegation's visit demonstrated the organization's commitment to monitoring and evaluating its projects.
