The Association of Former Students of CEG Tchawanda (2AECT) has donated school kits to 101 deserving and underprivileged students at their alma mater in Togo. The kits, comprising notebooks, pens, khaki blankets, erasers, rulers, and other essential items, aim to support the students' academic pursuits and help them become accomplished citizens. This initiative was made possible through contributions from association members.
The beneficiaries were sensitized to the importance of academic excellence and encouraged to pursue scientific fields. They were also urged to demonstrate self-improvement, rigor, and continuous excellence. Ziebrou Alassane, President of 2AECT, expressed the joy of returning to their former school to support their juniors and help them continue their studies smoothly. He stated that the CEG Tchawanda had educated and trained them, and now it was their turn to give back.
The president revealed that the association plans to equip the school's laboratory, renovate the sports field, and construct a teachers' lounge. He explained that with the government's establishment of numerous scientific colleges and high schools nationwide, students who cannot integrate into these institutions can still conduct scientific experiments with a well-equipped laboratory. Alassane called on partners and well-wishers to support their educational projects.
Agate Pagnim, Principal of Lycée Tchawanda, thanked the donors for their initiative, which will alleviate the burden on parents who lack resources and provide students with the necessary tools for a better future. One of the beneficiaries, Gaffo Irfan Essowassina, expressed his gratitude and promised to work hard and achieve good grades, particularly in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, to pursue a scientific field in high school.
Another beneficiary, Issa Moukhit, shared her story of struggling after her father's passing and her mother's inability to provide for their needs. She was thrilled to receive the school supplies, which will enable her to work harder and potentially merit another donation in the future. The 2AECT was established in 2017 and has active members and sympathizers in Togo and abroad.
An appeal was made to all former students of CEG Tchawanda, now prominent figures in the country, to join the association and collectively work towards the cause of education. The association's efforts aim to make a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged students and promote academic excellence in Togo.
The donation ceremony marks a significant milestone in the association's mission to support education and give back to their community. The 2AECT's initiatives demonstrate the power of collective action and the importance of investing in the next generation of Togolese citizens.
