President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration's dedication to constructing a secure, stable, and prosperous Nigeria. Speaking at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, he emphasized the importance of a multi-faceted approach to addressing insecurity, including job creation, macroeconomic stability, human capital development, and social protection.
The President highlighted that his administration has made significant progress in stabilizing the country despite facing diverse challenges. He noted that the government has been working to improve responses and interventions to insecurity, yielding desired outcomes. Tinubu also stressed that kinetic military operations alone cannot defeat insecurity, as poverty, unemployment, and social disintegration are major drivers of conflicts.
Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President outlined his administration's efforts to pursue job creation, macroeconomic stability, human capital development, and social protection in conjunction with security efforts. He also emphasized the need for regional and global collaborations to address the transnational nature of threats. Nigeria, he said, will continue to provide leadership and assistance to fellow countries in West Africa.
President Tinubu praised the NDA for its evolution in response to emerging security challenges, developing a training curriculum that blends military training and academics with a focus on character development. He noted that the Academy has incorporated realistic and enhanced Counter-Terrorism and Counterinsurgency training, as well as the integration of technology into training and research.
The President revealed that NDA cadets are undergoing military training in several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Brazil, and France. He expressed encouragement that the Academy is receiving international recognition, with cadets participating in competitive military cadet competitions globally, demonstrating excellence and affirming Nigeria's production of capable officers.
President Tinubu also highlighted the NDA's role as a regional hub for military education, training cadets from several African countries. These engagements, he said, strengthen military diplomacy, deepen professional cooperation, and reaffirm Nigeria's leadership in defence education and capacity development across the continent.
The President concluded by emphasizing his administration's commitment to democracy and stability in the region and globally. He stated that Nigeria will continue to pursue inclusive diplomacy, security cooperation, and economic integration, while upholding ECOWAS achievements and preserving collective security and prosperity.
