Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu's leadership, stating that his administration's difficult reforms are necessary for Nigeria's development. Speaking at Ikaladerhan Primary School in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Okpebholo emphasized that these reforms will benefit future generations. He made these remarks during his statewide tour, meeting party members and mobilizing support for the 2027 general elections.
The governor was accompanied by his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, and other party leaders, including APC state Chairman Jarrett Tenebe and former Deputy Governor Lucky Imasuen. The delegation visited several wards in Ovia North East and Ovia South West, interacting with party members. Okpebholo commended Tinubu for his anti-corruption efforts and support for his administration in Edo, stating that the president's efforts are crucial for national development.
Okpebholo expressed satisfaction with the high turnout of party members, demonstrating the APC's unity and readiness for the elections. He urged party members in Ovia North East and Ovia South West to support all APC candidates, assuring that they are capable of delivering and improving the lives of the people. The governor also mentioned that his administration had promised Tinubu 2.5 million votes and urged party members to support efforts to achieve this target.
The governor commended President Tinubu for supporting the state in its efforts to tackle insecurity, noting that the security situation in Edo has improved significantly. He attributed this improvement to the government's effective security measures, which have led to criminals relocating from the state. Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa highlighted the administration's commitment to improving infrastructure and social services in Ovia, citing the repair of the Ovia Bridge as a notable project.
Idahosa mentioned that the Iguobazuwa Grammar School, previously in poor condition, has been rebuilt and is near completion. He stated that the governor will commission the school during the campaign proper. Idahosa urged residents of Ovia to continue supporting the administration, emphasizing that the area has benefited from the emergence of young political leaders, including a 30-year-old council chairman and a 44-year-old deputy governor.
APC supporters in Ovia have pledged to work towards delivering 2.5 million votes, with party candidates expected to secure over 80 per cent of the votes in Ovia. Ovia South West Council Chairman Anthony Osarobo thanked the governor for his support and pledged massive votes for the APC. Osarobo noted that Udo, his community, produced a council chairman for the first time since 1999 under Okpebholo's administration.
