A former senator representing Osun Central, Olusola Adeyeye, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will not lose the South-West in the 2027 presidential election. Adeyeye, who is the South-West Coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics on Sunday, September 27, 2026. He emphasized that the APC will retain the region if it remains united. Adeyeye also warned that parties underestimating the 2027 election would be making a mistake.
Adeyeye, a key figure in the APC, stressed that the party is working hard to secure a major victory in the 2027 election. He made bold statements, assuring that the APC will win big and shock everybody. The former senator emphasized the importance of unity in the APC’s South-West campaign, stating that any political party that enters the election divided could lose. Adeyeye’s comments came ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
According to Adeyeye, no political party can defeat the APC in the South-West if the ruling party remains united in the region. He cited the experience of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who lost the South-West but went on to become President. Adeyeye argued that losing the South-West would not necessarily prevent a presidential candidate from winning the presidency. He referenced Obasanjo’s past, where he lost his ward, polling booth, state, zone, and every state in the South-West, yet became President.
Adeyeye also expressed confidence that the APC would win Osun State in the 2027 election. He attributed the popularity of Governor Ademola Adeleke, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, to his family, stating that the affection was not primarily for the governor. The former senator’s comments reflect the APC’s strategy to retain the South-West and secure a major victory in the 2027 presidential election.
When asked about former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, now associated with the African Democratic Congress, Adeyeye questioned the ADC’s performance in the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election and Aregbesola’s performance in Osun Central. He disclosed that if Aregbesola is the candidate, it’s a different matter, but his personal following could not automatically be transferred to another candidate.
Adeyeye acknowledged Aregbesola’s popularity, stating that he is still a magnificent person, much loved. However, he argued that Aregbesola’s affection for him could not be automatically transferred to another person. The former senator emphasized that if Aregbesola were a candidate, it would be challenging for anyone to beat him in Osun.
Adeyeye concluded by stressing the importance of unity in the APC’s South-West campaign. He warned that any political party that underestimates the 2027 election would be making a mistake. The APC is working hard to win the election and secure a major victory.
