President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a two-day visit to Akwa Ibom and Rivers states, starting with Akwa Ibom. During his visit, he will inaugurate several major infrastructure projects and attend All Progressives Congress campaign rallies ahead of the 2027 general elections. The President's trip was announced by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. Tinubu's visit to Akwa Ibom includes the inauguration of projects delivered under Governor Umo Eno's administration.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced a total restriction on drone operations within Uyo, the state capital, during the President's visit. The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare, stated that the measure aims to safeguard restricted airspace, protect critical locations, and prevent potential security breaches. Members of the public and drone operators are advised to comply with the directive. This move is part of robust security arrangements to guarantee a peaceful and orderly visit.

In addition to the drone restriction, the police have banned the use of fireworks, knockouts, and other explosive sound-producing devices within Uyo during the visit. This measure is intended to prevent panic and eliminate avoidable security distractions. The police also announced temporary traffic restrictions on several roads, including Airport Road, Shelter Afrique Junction, and Oron Road, to ensure the seamless movement of the presidential convoy.

Governor Umo Eno has declared the day of the President's visit a work-free day in Akwa Ibom to enable residents to participate in the reception. The President is expected to inaugurate several projects, including the new International Terminal Building at the Victor Attah International Airport, an International Airport Hospital, and the Ibom Aviation Village. Other projects to be commissioned include the Airport-Okopedi Road and Ring Road 3.

The President will also commission the AKWA-GIS Office Complex, a Command and Control Centre, and the ARISE Palm Resort. CP Baba Azare assured that the police command is working with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure coordination, intelligence sharing, and adequate deployment across strategic locations. The temporary restrictions are necessary security arrangements and not intended to inflict hardship on residents.

Motorists are urged to plan their journeys, exercise patience, and cooperate with traffic and security personnel deployed along the corridors. The police advised members of the public to avoid the restricted routes and use alternative routes. The security measures are aimed at ensuring adequate security, maintaining public order, and providing a safe environment for the President's engagements.

The President's visit to Akwa Ibom is part of his two-day trip, which will also take him to Rivers State for an APC campaign rally. The police have put in place robust security arrangements to guarantee a peaceful, orderly, and hitch-free visit. The restrictions and security measures are intended to ensure the success of the President's visit and the safety of residents.
