The Tinubu Must Stay (TMS) movement has launched a campaign to encourage Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's bid for a second term in office. According to the group's convener, Engr. Ibrahim Said Uba, the movement aims to highlight the president's achievements in infrastructure and agriculture. Uba emphasized that the administration has made significant progress in various sectors, including the implementation of major capital projects.
One of the notable infrastructure projects mentioned by Uba is the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, which is currently under construction. Additionally, the national railway expansions, including the Kano–Jigawa–Katsina–Maradi railway, are also progressing steadily, with substantial work completed on the Kano–Jigawa section. These projects are part of the administration's Renewed Hope infrastructure agenda, which aims to transform Nigeria's transportation network.
The TMS movement also pointed to the government's efforts to address agricultural challenges, particularly the rising food prices experienced in previous years. Uba noted that the Tinubu administration has introduced various support programmes, including fertilizer distribution and farm-input interventions, to boost production and improve food security. These initiatives aim to increase crop yields and reduce the country's reliance on imported food products.
Uba acknowledged that Nigeria still faces significant security and economic challenges, but argued that the current leadership has demonstrated its commitment to addressing these issues. He encouraged Nigerians to scrutinize the proposals of opposition parties carefully, particularly in light of recent comments by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on reinstating fuel subsidy. Uba urged citizens to demand clarity on funding and long-term economic implications before accepting such proposals.
The TMS convener also praised the cooperation among APC governors, describing it as essential for national development. He urged citizens, particularly in the North, to consider Nigeria's political history, recalling that former President Muhammadu Buhari received support from the South and completed his eight-year tenure. Uba emphasized that political discussions should be based on facts, development, and national interest rather than sentiment.
