The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has stated that President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms have had a positive impact on Nigeria's economy. According to Ima Niboro, spokesman of the Campaign Council and former Presidential Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Tinubu's reforms have halted years of deepening structural problems and laid a stronger foundation for sustainable growth and renewed investor confidence in Nigeria.

Niboro noted that successive administrations had largely postponed difficult decisions on fuel subsidy, foreign exchange, and other structural problems, allowing the burden on the economy to accumulate over the years. He stated that Tinubu chose instead to confront the problems despite the political and social costs associated with the reforms. This approach has helped to secure a foundation for future growth.

The administration's fiscal and foreign exchange reforms were beginning to produce results, with the improved external position helping to restore international confidence in the Nigerian economy. Niboro recalled that there was a period when Nigerians faced severe restrictions using their bank cards outside the country due to foreign exchange constraints, contrasting that situation with the stronger external position today.

Niboro attributed Nigeria's recurring cycle of disappointment with successive governments partly to the failure of leaders to confront inherited structural problems. He stated that it takes courage to make difficult decisions, citing Tinubu's removal of fuel subsidy as an example. Despite protests, Tinubu stood his ground as President and implemented the necessary reforms.

Comparing the Tinubu administration with that of former President Jonathan, Niboro noted that both leaders operated under significantly different political circumstances. He described Jonathan as "decent" and "very brilliant," but stated that his political base became fragmented, limiting the administration's ability to pursue some of its objectives. Tinubu, on the other hand, has built a broader political coalition around his government.

On insecurity, the APC PCC spokesman stated that the nation's security forces were receiving substantial support from the administration. He expressed confidence that sustained operations and investment in security would progressively reduce the threat across the country. The administration's efforts to address insecurity are ongoing, with a focus on improving the security situation.

Niboro's comments highlight the positive impact of Tinubu's economic reforms on Nigeria's economy and investor confidence. The administration's efforts to address structural problems and implement necessary reforms have helped to secure a foundation for future growth. The government's focus on improving the security situation and investing in security will be crucial in sustaining this growth.
