The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Nana Yaw Kyere, a 33-year-old mobile phone dealer. The suspects, Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai, were apprehended following investigations by the Police Missing Persons Unit. According to the police, Kyere went missing on September 19, 2026, after leaving his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra in his Honda Civic vehicle.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Kyere was allegedly lured by Sarah Adams to a residence belonging to Philip Tefe at Agbeleza. The suspects later confessed to their involvement, stating that Philip Tefe attacked Kyere during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries. The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended to and later died.
The police further established that Kyere's body was conveyed in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the Motorway on September 20, 2026, where it was dumped in a bush and set ablaze. The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21, 2026. On September 24, the victim's biological mother and uncle identified the body at the Police Hospital Mortuary.
The police have retrieved Kyere's iPhone 12, which Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for allegedly receiving the phone dishonestly. Josiah Obodai is being investigated in connection with the disposal of the body, while his father's Kia Morning vehicle, which was allegedly used to convey the body, has been impounded.
The three suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are underway to arrest other persons who might have been involved in the case. The police are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and murder of the mobile phone dealer.
The case has raised concerns about the rising incidents of kidnapping and murder in the country. The police have assured the public that they will do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice.
