The lifeless bodies of three children were discovered in the boot of a vehicle at Koblimahagu Zoo in the Tamale Metropolis. The deceased children have been identified as Dauda Abdul Aziz, aged three, Saani Alsharaf, aged five, and Dauda Fadilan, aged seven. According to police investigations, the trio left their homes at about 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, to attend Islamic classes but did not return. Their bodies were found in a black Hyundai Tucson with registration number AS 1770-14 on Monday, October 5.
The police are yet to reveal the circumstances surrounding the death of the three children. However, the incident has raised concerns about child safety and security in the Tamale Metropolis. In a related incident, a 28-year-old woman, Monica Mawuse Bosso, was found dead at her family’s compound in Peace Town, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality. Her body was discovered with a headgear around her neck, tied to a lower branch of a mango tree. Preliminary investigations by the Central East Regional Police Command suggest that she was raped and murdered.
According to the police, the deceased’s skirt and underwear, forcefully ripped by the perpetrators, alongside her mobile phone, were reportedly found by crime scene experts. Additionally, GH¢2,000 was withdrawn from the deceased’s Mobile Money account around the time of the incident. The family of the deceased has appealed to the police to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
This unfortunate incident comes weeks after the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, a phone dealer at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra. Nana Yaw Kyere was reported missing on September 22 after leaving his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic to visit Sarah Osei Adams.
His disappearance prompted the police to launch investigations into his whereabouts. However, his partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21. Police investigations reveal that Sarah Osei Adams lured the victim to the residence of Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza, where he was attacked and killed.
Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai are standing trial for their involvement in the kidnapping and murder of the phone dealer. The police have expressed hope that they will bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice.
