Three individuals have been taken into custody following a successful operation by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) in Nairobi's Jericho Estate. On Friday afternoon, anti-narcotics officers raided a two-bedroom house in Buruburu Sub-County, seizing a substantial quantity of suspected bhang. The operation was carried out based on an intelligence tip-off, highlighting the collaborative efforts between law enforcement and the community.

The search of the premises led to the discovery of 936 brown rolls of suspected bhang, with an additional 66 red rolls found concealed in a black polythene bag, totaling 1,002 rolls. Furthermore, officers recovered a bunch of keys from a store within the house, which will aid in the ongoing investigations. The three occupants of the house were arrested and transported to Jogoo Road Police Station. They are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, November 2, 2026.

NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa commended the residents for providing information that facilitated the identification of the suspected drug distribution point. He urged Kenyans to report any drug trafficking activities in their communities, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in the fight against narcotics. Omerikwa also stated that NACADA, in conjunction with the National Police Service, is pursuing other individuals linked to the supply chain.

The operation in Jericho Estate is part of NACADA's ongoing efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks operating within residential neighborhoods. Dr. Omerikwa assured the public that the crackdown on drug trafficking will persist beyond the recent arrests. The authority has called on members of the public with information on drug trafficking to report to the nearest police station, reaffirming their commitment to combating the drug menace.

The seized bhang is a significant blow to the drug trafficking syndicates operating in Nairobi. The sheer quantity of the suspected narcotics indicates a large-scale operation, which NACADA and the National Police Service are determined to disrupt. The collaboration between the two agencies has been crucial in achieving these results, and their partnership is expected to yield more successes in the future.

The fight against drug trafficking and abuse is a priority for the Kenyan government, with NACADA at the forefront of these efforts. The authority's initiatives aim to not only curb the supply of narcotics but also address the demand side through awareness campaigns and rehabilitation programs. By engaging the community and encouraging them to report suspicious activities, NACADA hopes to create a safer environment for all Kenyans.

The three arrested individuals will face charges related to drug trafficking, and the investigation will continue to identify and apprehend other suspects involved in the supply chain. NACADA's Dr. Omerikwa emphasized that the war on drugs is a collective responsibility, and the authority looks forward to continued public support in this endeavor. The success of the operation in Jericho Estate is a testament to the impact that can be achieved through collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the community.
