The Ghana Police Service has made three arrests in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere. The suspects, identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai, were apprehended following investigations conducted by the Missing Persons Unit. Kyere was reported missing on September 22, 2026, after leaving his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026, in his Honda Civic.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that Sarah Osei Adams allegedly lured Kyere to the residence of Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza. Tefe and Adams later admitted their involvement in the incident during police investigations. The police stated that Tefe allegedly attacked Kyere during a confrontation, hitting him with a metallic object and causing serious injuries.
The police account further stated that Kyere was subsequently moved to another room and allegedly left unattended, where he later died. The deceased's body was then transported in a Kia Morning vehicle on September 20, 2026, to an area near the motorway, where it was allegedly dumped in a bush and set on fire. The partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on September 21.
Kyere's biological mother and an uncle subsequently identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24. As part of the investigation, police retrieved Kyere's iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH¢100. The alleged buyer, identified as Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained for suspected dishonest receipt of the phone.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who police said is being investigated over the alleged disposal of Kyere's body. Police have also impounded a Kia Morning belonging to Obodai's father, which investigators believe was used to transport the deceased's body.
The Police Service stated that Tefe, Adams, and Obodai remain in custody and will be put before court as investigations into the case continue. Police added that investigators are working to identify and arrest any other persons who may have been involved in the incident.
