The meeting aims to discuss judicial reforms, digital case management, and the strengthening of justice delivery systems.

The conference was officially opened by the Chairman of the Revolutionary Council and President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi. This event is a significant milestone for the Zanzibar Judiciary, showcasing its commitment to enhancing public trust and efficiency.

In 2022, THRDC Zanzibar, in collaboration with the Zanzibar Judiciary, conducted a comprehensive assessment known as the Holistic Assessment of the Judiciary of Zanzibar. This assessment identified key priority areas requiring attention, including improving internal performance, accelerating the use of digital systems, and strengthening regional and international cooperation. The assessment laid the groundwork for strategic improvements and recommendations to enhance the Judiciary's systems.

THRDC Zanzibar Coordinator Suleiman Mujuni Baitani emphasized that the assessment provided a foundation for strengthening the Judiciary's systems and offered recommendations for strategic improvements. He noted that hosting SEACJF 2026 is among the outcomes of that work and clear evidence of the Judiciary's genuine commitment to bringing about change. Baitani also highlighted that the conference provides Zanzibar with an important opportunity to share its experience with judiciaries across the region and learn from others.

The conference focuses on judicial reforms, digital case management, and strengthening justice delivery systems. These themes are crucial for enhancing access to justice and improving the efficiency of judicial systems across the region. By bringing together Chief Justices and delegates from various countries, the SEACJF 2026 conference facilitates the exchange of ideas and best practices in judicial administration.

THRDC Zanzibar also congratulated the Zanzibar Judiciary, under the leadership of Chief Justice Khamis Ramadhan Abdalla, for successfully hosting the conference. The successful hosting of this event reflects the Judiciary's capacity to organize high-profile international meetings and its commitment to regional cooperation. This achievement is a testament to the progress made by the Zanzibar Judiciary in recent years.
