Segilola Resources Operating Limited, a Nigerian subsidiary of Thor Explorations Ltd, has launched initiatives to empower women entrepreneurs and award scholarships to students in its host communities in Osun State. The 2026 Segilola Women Initiative Programme and the SROL Gold Scholarship Programme aim to strengthen livelihoods, expand economic opportunities, and invest in young people's development. 96 beneficiaries from Iperindo, Odo-Ijesha, and Imogbara communities received support.
The Segilola Women Initiative Programme provided equipment to 30 women entrepreneurs to increase productivity, expand businesses, and build sustainable income sources. Beneficiaries received freezers, sewing and stoning machines, digesters, multi-purpose grinders, gas burners, and cooler sets tailored to their businesses. Three previous programme beneficiaries also received additional equipment to upscale their businesses.
Since its launch in 2021, the Segilola Women Initiative Programme has supported over 200 women across the host communities, providing tools and equipment to promote financial independence and local economy participation. A returning beneficiary, Adesuyi Titilope Elizabeth, expressed appreciation for the programme, stating that the equipment will help her serve more customers and increase her income.
Thor Explorations also awarded scholarships to 63 students from its host communities through the SROL Gold Scholarship Programme. The programme recognizes outstanding academic performance and supports students to further their education. Top-performing students received laptops and learning devices to encourage continued academic excellence.
The scholarship and women empowerment programmes were presented at ceremonies held on August 20 at the Iperindo Community New Town Hall. Madhurii Sarkar-Amoda, Community Development and Stakeholder Manager, emphasized that the initiatives address community needs and lay the foundation for long-term growth and self-reliance.
