The commune of Thionck-Essyl, located in the Bignona department of southern Senegal, has set its sights on transforming into a more prosperous and better-equipped territory. According to Mayor Souleymane Diatta, the commune's ambition is to become a thriving area, economically, socially inclusive, and oriented towards the future. This vision was presented during the opening ceremony of a partners' forum. The mayor emphasized that this development cannot be achieved solely through the commune's means.

The forum aims to create a direct dialogue space between Thionck-Essyl and potential partners, including public institutions, development partners, investors, entrepreneurs, community organizations, and diaspora associations. Mayor Diatta stressed that no territory can realize its full potential without uniting its energies and building solid partnerships around a common vision. He highlighted the importance of inclusive governance, where citizens are not just beneficiaries of public policies but also actors in the conception, implementation, and monitoring of projects.

Thionck-Essyl's mayor listed the commune's significant assets, including its youth, human resources, cultural heritage, economic activities, and its anchorage in the Blouf territory. These riches can be leveraged to build sustainable development. However, the mayor acknowledged that the commune cannot rely solely on external solutions and must organize its priorities, prepare relevant projects, and seek adapted financing.

To achieve its vision, the municipal council has engaged in a reflection on Thionck-Essyl's future at the horizon 2030. The goal is to create a commune where basic social infrastructure and services meet the population's needs. Mayor Diatta outlined five priority projects, including the establishment of a paving production unit, the valorization of the mango sector, and the reinforcement and extension of the drinking water network.

Additional projects include the creation of a communal waste disposal site and an emergency medical reception unit. These initiatives aim to address the commune's challenges and improve the quality of life for its inhabitants. The mayor emphasized the importance of solidarity, territorial responsibility, and shared responsibility in achieving these goals.

The commune's development strategy relies on the mobilization of all stakeholders, including citizens, partners, and resources. Mayor Diatta expressed his conviction that Thionck-Essyl can become a model of inclusive and sustainable development. The commune's vision for 2030 is centered on meeting the population's basic needs and improving their well-being.

The Thionck-Essyl commune's priority projects have been designed to be sustainable and impactful. With the implementation of these initiatives, the commune aims to create a thriving economy, improve social services, and provide opportunities for its youth.
