The Ghana Police Service has made a significant breakthrough in the Teshie murder case, retrieving the victim's iPhone 12 from a buyer who had purchased it for a fraction of its value. Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, one of three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, also known as Terry Dinero, allegedly sold the device for GH¢100. The police tracked down the device and recovered it from Sunday Omeje, who has since been cautioned and detained.
According to the police, Terry Dinero left his home at Kokomlemle in Accra on 19 September 2026, driving his Honda Civic, and never returned. His family reported him missing on 22 September 2026, four days after he disappeared. Preliminary inquiries suggest that Dinero was lured to Tefe's residence at Teshie Aghbleza by a second suspect, Sarah Osei Adams. Both Tefe and Adams have confessed to their roles in the incident.
Investigators claim that Tefe struck Dinero with a metallic object during a confrontation, wounding him. The injured man was then moved to a separate room and left without medical attention, where he subsequently died. A third suspect, Josiah Obodai, was arrested in connection with the alleged disposal of Dinero's body. Police believe Obodai used his father's Kia Morning to help transport the body to a bushy area near the motorway.
On 20 September, Dinero's body was dumped and set on fire near the motorway. A partially burnt body was discovered at Community 18 on 21 September and formally identified at the Police Hospital mortuary on 24 September by Dinero's biological mother and an uncle. The vehicle used to transport the body has been impounded by investigators.
All three suspects, Tefe, Adams, and Obodai, remain in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities indicate that efforts are ongoing to establish whether additional individuals played a part in the crime and to bring them before court.
