Tema East Member of Parliament, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, has urged men to take a more active role in breast cancer awareness. He made the call at the launch of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by the International Maritime Hospital. According to him, breast cancer should not be viewed solely as a women’s health concern, but rather as a disease that affects husbands, children, families, workplaces, and communities.

Mr. Odamtten encouraged husbands and partners to support women in prioritizing their breast health and seeking professional advice when they notice warning signs. These signs include lumps, changes in breast size or appearance, skin changes, and abnormal nipple discharge. He also called for breast health education to move beyond October and become part of everyday conversations in homes, churches, mosques, schools, and workplaces.

The Tema East MP stressed that early detection and timely treatment should remain at the center of breast cancer awareness efforts. He urged Ghanaians to take practical steps towards protecting their health rather than limiting the campaign to wearing the pink ribbon. Mr. Odamtten also announced his commitment to fully sponsor this year’s Manhean Breast Cancer Month as part of his contribution to awareness and prevention efforts.

Mr. Odamtten commended the International Maritime Hospital and its partners for launching the campaign. He encouraged men, in particular, to become active participants in promoting breast health among women in their families and communities. This, he believes, will help address fear, stigma, and misinformation that could prevent people from seeking timely medical attention.

The MP's call to action is in line with the efforts of other organizations, such as Breast Care International, which has also called for year-round breast cancer awareness. The organization believes that early detection and awareness are crucial in reducing cancer cases and deaths in Ghana.

Breast cancer awareness is an important issue in Ghana, with many experts urging people to take proactive steps towards protecting their health. According to some experts, knowing one's partner's breasts and being aware of any changes can help in early detection. The Tema Metropolitan Assembly has also been urged to provide water tankers to communities, highlighting the importance of access to healthcare services.

The launch of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by the International Maritime Hospital is part of a larger effort to raise awareness about the disease. With the support of individuals like Mr. Odamtten and organizations like Breast Care International, it is hoped that more people will take proactive steps towards protecting their health and promoting breast cancer awareness.
