The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has announced the opening of the third and final round of undergraduate admissions for the 2026/2027 academic year. This final admission window, which runs from October 3 to 9, 2026, provides prospective students with another opportunity to secure places in degree programmes with available vacancies. According to TCU Executive Secretary, Professor Charles Kihampa, the decision to open this final window was made in response to requests from applicants who were unsuccessful in earlier rounds.

The additional admission window will allow applicants who had not applied earlier or those who failed to secure admission in the second round to submit applications to institutions and programmes of their choice. TCU has directed higher learning institutions to continue publicising degree programmes with available places during the final admission round. This move aims to ensure that applicants are aware of the available opportunities and can make informed decisions about their applications.

Under the timetable, universities and other institutions will submit the names of students admitted in the third round to TCU between October 13 and 14. The institutions are expected to publish the names of successful applicants on October 17. This timeline will enable institutions to complete the admission process and allow successful applicants to confirm their places.

Students admitted to more than one institution during the third round, as well as those who failed to confirm their admission in previous rounds, will have until October 19 to complete the confirmation process. Meanwhile, TCU has announced that the second-round admission results are being announced by individual institutions from October 3. Applicants admitted to more than one institution in the second round, together with those who failed to confirm their admission during the first round, have also been given until October 19 to confirm their places.

To confirm their admission, applicants will receive a special secret code sent through the telephone number or email address used during application. Applicants who do not receive the code have been advised to log into the relevant institution’s admission system and request it again. TCU has urged applicants to use the same accounts used during application and direct admission-related complaints to the respective institutions.

The Tanzania Commission for Universities has admitted 117,334 students in the previous rounds, and this final admission window is expected to increase the number of students admitted to various institutions. The commission has assured applicants that the admission process is fair and transparent, and that all applicants will have an opportunity to secure a place in a degree programme.

In conclusion, the TCU’s final admission window provides a last opportunity for prospective students to secure places in degree programmes with available vacancies. Applicants are advised to take advantage of this opportunity and apply to institutions and programmes of their choice. The commission has provided a clear timeline for the admission process, and applicants are expected to follow the instructions carefully to ensure a smooth process.
