Mkuyu Africa has launched the Miliki Ardhi Diaspora programme to enable Tanzanians living abroad to own property in Tanzania. The initiative was unveiled at the 2026 Building and Construction Exhibition (BuildExpo) in Dar es Salaam. The programme aims to help Tanzanians in the diaspora take advantage of opportunities to invest in land, residential houses, and commercial buildings. The chief executive officer of Mkuyu Africa, Juneid Othman, stated that the programme is designed to help Tanzanians in the diaspora lay the foundation for their future. He encouraged them to start owning property early, saying, "Right now, you have the strength to work and earn, but after several years, you may want to return home. That is why we want to help you start owning property early." Othman added that Tanzanians living abroad can take advantage of various opportunities available in the country to invest in real estate.
The minister for Lands, Housing and Human Settlements, Dr. Leonard Akwilapo, urged investors in Tanzania to increase investment in industries, particularly in the manufacturing of construction materials. He emphasized that this would strengthen the country's capacity to implement major projects and compete with foreign companies. Dr. Akwilapo also encouraged Tanzanians living abroad to take advantage of available opportunities to invest in the country and support locally produced goods.
