Tanzania is actively participating in the Ninth Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in New Delhi, India. The assembly aims to promote solar energy use globally. On the sidelines of the event, Tanzanian officials held productive talks with international companies specializing in solar energy technologies. These discussions were led by Emilian Nyanda from the Ministry of Energy, who is also Tanzania's representative to the ISA.

The talks with solar energy companies took place on November 4, 2026. The primary goal was to identify investors who could partner with the government in expanding electricity access, particularly in areas not yet connected to the national grid. Nyanda emphasized that the government is creating a conducive investment environment to attract investors in renewable energy, especially solar power. This initiative aims to ensure a reliable electricity supply to citizens, including those living on islands and in off-grid areas.

During the discussions, Nyanda met with executives from Shakti Pumps, led by Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Patidar. Shakti Pumps specializes in solar-powered water pump technologies used to supply water to communities and support irrigation projects. These technologies are crucial in improving agricultural productivity and access to water, particularly in rural areas. The meeting highlighted the potential for collaboration in implementing such technologies in Tanzania.

Nyanda also held discussions with Enerzy AI Chief Executive Officer Mazhar Hussein. Enerzy AI specializes in digital systems for monitoring and controlling solar power installations. Their systems can monitor plant performance, detect technical faults, and forecast electricity generation based on solar radiation conditions. This technology can significantly enhance the efficiency and reliability of solar power installations in Tanzania.

The Tanzanian government's efforts to expand electricity access and promote renewable energy are part of its broader strategy to support economic and social activities. By attracting investors in solar energy, the government aims to address the challenges of unreliable electricity supply, particularly in rural and off-grid areas. These initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the country's development.

The ISA Assembly provides a platform for countries to share experiences and best practices in promoting solar energy. Tanzania's participation in the assembly and its talks with solar energy companies demonstrate its commitment to harnessing solar energy to meet its electricity needs. The country is taking proactive steps to create an enabling environment for investors in the renewable energy sector.

The outcome of these discussions and the implementation of solar energy projects in Tanzania are expected to contribute to the country's sustainable development. With the right investments and technologies, Tanzania can improve electricity access, enhance agricultural productivity, and support economic growth. The government's efforts to promote solar energy are a step in the right direction towards achieving these goals.
