The Tanzania-China Run is set to take place on October 14, featuring 5km, 10km, and 15km races. The event aims to commemorate the contribution of the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Tanzania and China. Organized by the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC), the run will promote healthy living, unite Tanzanian and Chinese communities, and raise funds for community services.
EACLC Chairperson, Lisa Wang, emphasized that the run combines sports and physical fitness with recognition of Nyerere's role in building relations between the two countries. Wang encouraged individuals and families to participate, highlighting the event's social purpose and opportunity for interaction through sports. The run is open to Tanzanians, Chinese nationals living in Tanzania, employees of Chinese companies, government institutions, and private-sector representatives.
The event's Secretary-General of the Association of Chinese Companies in Tanzania, Tang Jingyu, outlined the three race categories and registration fees. Participants will pay 35,000/- per person, while groups of 10 or more people will pay 32,000/- per person. Jingyu stated that funds raised through registration will support community services, giving the event a social purpose beyond the races.
According to Jingyu, the event is not only a sporting competition but also an opportunity to strengthen friendship between Tanzania and China. He urged runners to select distances according to their physical and health conditions and to observe safety during the event. Participants will take part as runners regardless of nationality.
Runners Club Secretary, Godfrey Mwanakurya, confirmed that the routes for the three race categories have been prepared with safety in consideration. He encouraged those who have not yet registered to join the event and participate in the races. The event is expected to bring together people from both communities to engage in physical activity and interact through sports.

Nyerere, also known as the Father of the Nation, contributed to the country's development and cooperation with other nations. The event will provide a platform for people to come together and celebrate his achievements.
With the event fast approaching, participants are gearing up to take part in the 5km, 10km, and 15km races.
