Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Takoradi have expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the party's National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The conference saw the election of new national executives, including former General Secretary, John Boadu, as National Chairman with 2,888 votes. The members described the conference as a renewed opportunity to rebuild and recapture power in 2028.

The newly elected national executives also include Justin Frimpong Koduah, who was re-elected as General Secretary, and Henry Nana Boakye, Nana Akomea, and Kojo Fosu Boadu as Vice Chairpersons. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover was elected as National Organiser, and Alfred Kojo Thompson as National Treasurer. The new executives have a four-year mandate and are expected to lead the party's reorganisation and campaign as the main opposition party after losing power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024.

Speaking with the GNA in separate interviews in Takoradi, some party faithful congratulated Chairman John Boadu and all the newly elected national officers. Mr. Kwame Mensah, a polling station executive from Takoradi Constituency, said the elections were generally peaceful and reflected the will of the grassroots. He added that what happened in Kumasi showed that the NPP believed in internal democracy.

Madam Efua Aidoo, a women's organiser in the Effia Constituency, called for unity among party members, saying "The election is over. What we need now is unity. Whether you supported Boadu, Boakye Agyarko or Paul Afoko, we are one NPP family." This sentiment was echoed by other party members, who stressed that the real work begins now and that the new executives must work hard to strengthen party structures at the polling station and constituency levels.

Mr. Kojo Acquah, an NPP communicator, noted that Ghanaians are watching and that if the party wants to win back power in 2028, the new executives must work hard, listen to the base, and address the concerns that cost them the 2024 elections. He added that there should be no more complacency and that the party must present a clear alternative message to Ghanaians ahead of the 2028 polls.

The NPP members in Takoradi also called on the national leadership to reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen party structures. They believe that this will help the party to regain power in 2028. The party's new executives will be responsible for leading the party's reorganisation and campaign.

The NPP lost power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024, and the party is now focused on rebuilding and recapturing power in 2028. The new national executives will play a crucial role in this process.
