Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Takoradi have welcomed the outcome of the party's National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on October 3, 2026. The conference resulted in the election of new national executives, including former General Secretary, John Boadu, as National Chairman with 2,888 votes. The members see this as a renewed opportunity to rebuild and recapture power in 2028.

The newly elected national officers include Justin Frimpong Koduah, re-elected as General Secretary, Henry Nana Boakye, Nana Akomea, and Kojo Fosu Boadu as Vice Chairpersons, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover as National Organiser, and Alfred Kojo Thompson as National Treasurer. These executives have a four-year mandate and are expected to lead the party's reorganisation and campaign as the main opposition party after losing power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024.

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in separate interviews in Takoradi, some party faithful described the elections as generally peaceful and reflective of the will of the grassroots. They congratulated Chairman John Boadu and all the newly elected national officers, highlighting the party's commitment to internal democracy.

Party members are now calling on the national leadership to strengthen party structures at the polling station and constituency levels. They also urge the leadership to reconcile aggrieved members and present a clear alternative message to Ghanaians ahead of the 2028 polls. According to them, the real work begins now, and the new executives must work hard to address the concerns that cost the party the 2024 elections.

Mr. Kwame Mensah, a polling station executive from Takoradi Constituency, praised the peaceful nature of the elections, saying it showed that the NPP believed in internal democracy. Madam Efua Aidoo, a women's organiser in the Effia Constituency, emphasised the need for unity among party members, stating that they are one NPP family despite any differences in opinion during the elections.

Mr. Kojo Acquah, an NPP communicator, stressed that Ghanaians are watching and that the new executives must work hard, listen to the base, and address the concerns that led to the party's loss in 2024. He warned against complacency, saying it will be crucial for the party to regain power in 2028.

The NPP members in Takoradi are optimistic about the future, saying the new executives will lead the party to success. They believe that with unity, hard work, and a clear strategy, the party can recapture power in 2028 and continue to contribute to Ghana's development.
