The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued a recall for 543 Suzuki Grand Vitara vehicles in South Africa. According to the NCC, the recall is due to a fault with the fuel alert system. The affected vehicles were sold through Suzuki dealerships nationwide from May 2025. The recall was initiated after Suzuki Auto South Africa Motors (Pty) Ltd notified the NCC of the issue.
The fault affects the low fuel warning light, which may not turn on as the fuel level decreases. Previously, the NCC recalled over 2,500 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Lexus GX, Lexus UX, and Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) vehicles due to software errors.
A total of 2,279 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado vehicles were recalled due to a software error in the combination meter. The error may cause a blank image in the 3D graphics area of the meter during startup. Additionally, 255 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) vehicles were recalled due to a software issue with the Airbag Control Unit module.
The Airbag Control Unit module issue may cause transient door airbag pressure sensor faults to remain active for the lifetime of the sensor. Furthermore, 41 Lexus GX and Lexus UX vehicles were recalled due to a similar software issue. The affected Lexus vehicles were sold nationwide from April 17, 2024, to September 8, 2025.
The NCC and vehicle manufacturers are taking steps to address these safety concerns. Vehicle owners are advised to check if their vehicles are affected by these recalls and take them to authorised dealerships for inspection and repair.
