The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has urged Nigerians, particularly the youths, to prioritize coexistence and nation building. Speaking in Ilorin, he emphasized the need for tertiary institutions to focus on character molding, with a particular emphasis on nation building. He also called for a good and improved basic foundation for youths to be committed to nation building.

The Sultan made the call at the grand finale of the 100 years Az-Zumratul Adabiyatul Kamaliyyah School of Arabic and Islamic Studies. He disclosed that the federal and state governments are aware of the plight of Nigerians but encouraged patience and perseverance. According to him, there is no problem without a solution, and Almighty Allah can provide a solution to every challenge.

The Sultan emphasized the importance of upholding good values, urging youths not to allow themselves to be used as thugs, bandits, or terrorists for political or financial gains. He also stressed the need for Muslims to be in peace with their neighbors, irrespective of their religions and beliefs. According to him, no one is pious, and Allah is the only and most pious.

The Sultan, who is also the President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), encouraged Muslims to continually pray for their leaders, whether they are the President, governors, local government chairmen, or members of the National Assembly. He promised to contribute his quota to the progress of the first Islamic and Arabic school in the country.

The chairman of the event, Dr. Awa Ibraheem, said the event was not only to celebrate the institution that has survived a century but also to celebrate a vision that has transcended generations. The school, established in 1926, emerged at a crucial period in the development of modern Islamic and Arabic education in Nigeria.

In his welcome address, the Khaleefahut Adabiyyeen, Shaykh Mustapha Muhammad Kamaludeen, said a century is not merely a measure of time but a testimony of endurance, a record of sacrifice, and a trust handed from one generation to another. The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Sultan of Sokoto and other Islamic scholars.

The Sultan's call for coexistence and nation building is a timely reminder for Nigerians, especially the youths, to prioritize the country's progress. The event at the Az-Zumratul Adabiyatul Kamaliyyah School of Arabic and Islamic Studies highlights the importance of Islamic education and the need for Muslims to be good citizens and contribute positively to society.
