NAYLA MOHAMMED AHMED KHALAF ALLAH, a Sudanese mother of six, is facing immense challenges in caring for her children while searching for her missing husband, ABDU ADAM HAMED. The family was forced to flee their home in Omdurman due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. NAYLA and her children eventually settled in the city of Al-Duwim, in the White Nile state. However, her husband went missing in December 2023, during their displacement.

Prior to the conflict, NAYLA and her family lived a relatively stable life in the (16) neighborhood of Ambedah, in western Omdurman. However, as clashes intensified in Khartoum, the family decided to leave in search of a safer location. They eventually moved to the city of Madani, in the Gezira state, where they hoped to find temporary shelter. Unfortunately, the conflict caught up with them once again, and ABDU ADAM HAMED disappeared during their evacuation.

NAYLA and her children were forced to flee Madani, leaving behind their home and belongings. They eventually settled in Al-Duwim, where they received assistance from local residents. NAYLA and her children initially took shelter in a school, but were later forced to move to an open area, where they built a makeshift home using straw, mats, and leftover fabric. The family has been struggling to cope with the loss of their father and provider.

The situation worsened during the recent flood season, which left the family surrounded by water. NAYLA described the experience as being "like living on an island." Despite the challenges, she continues to care for her children and search for her missing husband. NAYLA has informed the relevant government and civilian authorities about her husband's disappearance, in hopes that it may lead to news about his whereabouts.

Nearly two years and ten months have passed since ABDU ADAM HAMED's disappearance, and his family remains uncertain about his fate. NAYLA continues to rely on assistance from local residents and charities to care for her children. She expressed gratitude towards the people of Al-Duwim, who have provided her family with support during this difficult time.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan has resulted in numerous cases of displacement and family separation. NAYLA's story is just one example of the many challenges faced by Sudanese citizens. The situation remains uncertain, with many families struggling to cope with the loss of loved ones and the lack of access to basic necessities.

Despite the difficulties, NAYLA remains determined to care for her children and hold onto hope that she will one day be reunited with her husband. The family continues to reside in Al-Duwim, where they have received support from local residents. NAYLA's story serves as a testament to the resilience of Sudanese mothers, who continue to care for their families amidst the ongoing conflict.
