Standard Chartered has launched a new Priority Centre in Nyali, Mombasa, aimed at providing tailored financial services to high-net-worth individuals in the coastal region. Edith Chumba, Head of Wealth Services at Standard Chartered Kenya and East Africa, noted that clients require cross-border investment advice to build, preserve, and transfer their wealth to future generations.

Mombasa's economy is growing rapidly, with the port handling 22.3 million tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2026, and 566,400 tonnes transported by rail. The region also received over 96,700 international visitors through Mombasa International Airport in the first four months of 2026. This growth has created a demand for specialized financial services, which the new Priority Centre aims to address.
