Stanbic Bank Tanzania has made a significant donation of medical equipment and supplies worth Sh40 million to Vijibweni Hospital in Kigamboni. The donation, handed over on Friday, October 9, 2026, aims to improve maternal healthcare, patient monitoring, and access to essential diagnostic services. The equipment includes hospital beds, a delivery bed, bedside lockers, a linen hamper, a patient monitor, oxygen flow meters, and digital blood pressure machines.

The donated equipment will enhance the hospital's ability to provide quality healthcare services, particularly to mothers and families who depend on the facility. Stanbic Bank Tanzania's Head of Personal and Private Banking, Mr. Omari Mtiga, emphasized the bank's commitment to supporting essential services beyond its financial operations. He stated that access to quality healthcare is crucial for building healthier, stronger, and more productive communities.

The donation includes infection control supplies and computer equipment to support hospital administration and record-keeping. This comprehensive support will enable healthcare professionals to provide timely and effective care. Mr. Mtiga added that the equipment will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people served by the bank.

Kigamboni District Commissioner Dalmia Mikaya received the donation on behalf of the government and thanked Stanbic Bank for supporting local healthcare services. She noted that Kigamboni is growing rapidly, and the district's health facilities are serving more people than they were built for. The equipment will help bridge the gaps in healthcare services.

Kigamboni District Medical Officer Dr. Lucas Ngamtwa expressed his gratitude for the donation, stating that it will improve the hospital's daily operations. The equipment will enable healthcare workers to conduct assessments and monitor patients more effectively, ultimately improving the quality and speed of care offered to residents.

The donation builds on Stanbic Bank's previous community initiatives in the district under the Stanbic Madawati Initiative. The bank had previously donated 150 desks worth Sh20 million to Ufukoni Primary School and planted 150 trees. This latest donation demonstrates the bank's ongoing commitment to supporting the local community.

The handover ceremony was attended by various stakeholders, including Vijibweni Ward Councillor Nicholas Mranda, Acting District Administrative Secretary Agusta Safari, hospital management, and representatives of Stanbic Bank Tanzania. The donation is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of residents in Kigamboni.
