The Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) Party office in Eastern Equatoria State has officially launched its election campaign. The campaign launch took place on Tuesday at the SPLM Party State Secretariat in Torit. Party leaders, including state chairperson and caretaker governor Louis Lobong Lojore, attended the event. The SPLM aims to win all elective positions in the state.
SPLM State Assistant Secretary for Political Affairs Ephone Emmanuel Lolimo stated that the party had now sounded the whistle for its election campaign. He urged party cadres to return to their counties and mobilize voters from the grassroots. Lolimo emphasized that the party must win 100 percent of the elective positions through victory, not rigging.
Eddy William Ponsiano Boyle, the SPLM chairperson for Torit County, called on party members to stop working individually and instead mobilize communities collectively. He urged SPLM leaders to visit communities down to the boma level and address local concerns. Boyle also encouraged party leaders to resolve internal differences before the elections.
Charles Udwar Ukech, former Eastern Equatoria State Transitional Legislative Assembly speaker, highlighted peace as one of the achievements of the current political period. He urged SPLM members to explain the party's record to voters during the campaigns. Ukech also encouraged citizens to hold elected leaders accountable for their performance.
Akileo Mboya Peter, SPLM state secretary, called on former government officials and party cadres to return to their communities and prepare for the elections. He urged party members to unite and remain disciplined. The party will organize internal processes, including primaries, to select candidates for different positions.
SPLM Deputy Chairperson Margret Ito Leonardo urged party members to draw lessons from the 2010 elections. She emphasized the importance of unity among party members and cooperation with other political groups. Leonardo's sentiments align with the party's goal of achieving a peaceful and democratic election process.
Eastern Equatoria SPLM Party chairperson and caretaker Governor Louis Lobong Lojore said the mobilization was aimed at preparing the party for the coming elections. He warned party members against relying on misleading information circulating on social media. Lobong welcomed SPLM members who previously served in government back to the party structures.
