African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has revealed that his attendance at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) National Thanksgiving service in Lagos was part of his personal mission to seek spiritual guidance and prayers. Sowore, who is seeking to contest the 2027 presidential election, stated that his appearance at the church's headquarters in Ebute Metta was not driven by political calculations. He was accompanied by the AAC National Chairman, Pastor Samuel Ajeigbe, during the visit.

According to Sowore, after the service, he had a private conversation with RCCG's General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, who offered to pray for him. Adeboye reportedly told Sowore that he had been following his activities closely and described his political journey as an honourable one. The RCCG leader expressed confidence in Sowore's eventual triumph. This meeting was significant for Sowore, as it was not his first encounter with Adeboye.

Sowore recalled that he first met Adeboye at the same Ebute Metta location in 1996, shortly after completing his National Youth Service Corps programme. At the time, Sowore was involved in efforts to mobilise people against campus cultism and the activities of cult groups. Thirty years later, the two met again at the same place, marking a significant moment for Sowore.

The AAC presidential candidate expressed appreciation to members of the church for their reception and particularly thanked Adeboye for the private conversation and prayers. Sowore stressed that his presence at the church should not be interpreted as part of a political strategy ahead of the 2027 election. He has previously contested the presidency under the AAC in the 2019 and 2023 elections.

Sowore's visit to the RCCG National Thanksgiving service comes as he prepares to lead the AAC into the 2027 presidential race. The AAC candidate's appearance at the church has sparked interest, with many seeking to understand the implications of his visit. Sowore's emphasis on seeking spiritual guidance and prayers highlights his commitment to his personal mission.

Pastor Adeboye's endorsement of Sowore's political journey is seen as significant, given the RCCG's influence in Nigeria. Adeboye's expression of confidence in Sowore's eventual triumph may boost the AAC candidate's chances in the upcoming election. The private meeting between Sowore and Adeboye has generated interest, with many seeking to understand the details of their conversation.

Sowore's 2027 presidential bid is expected to be highly competitive, with several other candidates vying for the top seat. The AAC candidate's ability to garner support from various stakeholders, including religious leaders like Adeboye, may play a crucial role in his campaign. As the election approaches, Sowore's mission and message will likely continue to be scrutinised by the public and the media.
