Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, and Charles Soludo of Anambra State made the call during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Mega Rally and Empowerment Programme for the South East. The event was flagged off by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, at Okpara Square in Enugu. The governors emphasized the importance of supporting Tinubu's re-election bid to consolidate the gains of his administration's economic reforms.

Governor Mbah highlighted the ongoing development projects in the region, including the construction of primary healthcare centers, which he attributed to the federal government's economic reforms. He noted that the reforms had made enough money available to all states, enabling them to undertake various projects and initiatives. Mbah cited examples of projects undertaken in Enugu, including Smart Green Schools and Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centers.

Mbah urged the people of the region to support Tinubu's re-election bid, saying that a good sailor does not abandon his ship mid-sea because of challenges. He emphasized that the job was not finished yet and that they must finish the journey they started together. Mbah also cautioned against listening to voices that might try to deceive them, saying that the Igbo people are strategic and relationship builders.

The empowerment programme, which targets 5,000 women across the South-east, is part of the APC's efforts to empower women in the region. Mbah noted that empowering a woman strengthens the family and builds a strong community. The programme follows the empowerment of over 2,000 women in Enugu by the First Lady, including payment of hospital bills, within 48 hours.

Governor Uzodimma reiterated the region's commitment to supporting Tinubu's re-election in 2027. He noted that the Igbo people had experienced marginalization for over 60 years but were beginning to witness a new era of political inclusion and development under Tinubu. Uzodimma commended the president for expanding the scope of infrastructure and economic development in the South-east region.

The governors' call to action comes ahead of the 2027 presidential election, and it remains to be seen how the Igbo people will respond to their appeal. The South East region has been a key battleground in Nigerian politics, and the outcome of the election could have significant implications for the region and the country as a whole.
