On October 2, 2026, the Société nationale d'aménagement des terrains urbains (SONATUR) carried out a series of activities in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. The delegation, led by Minister of Construction Mikaïlou Sidibé, visited various sites, including the Dogona health center and the Bindougousso urban development site. These activities demonstrate SONATUR's commitment to social responsibility and its new focus on real estate development.
The first stop was the Dogona health center, built by SONATUR for the local population. The company donated medical supplies and equipment worth 2 million CFA francs to support the center's operations. Minister Sidibé emphasized that this gesture is part of SONATUR's social responsibility towards communities affected by its urban development projects. The health center was previously equipped with basic infrastructure, including access to clean water and electricity.
The delegation then visited the Dogona primary school, where they launched the construction of a perimeter fence and a borehole. The fence is expected to cost over 50 million CFA francs, while the borehole project is valued at over 14 million CFA francs. These initiatives address concerns raised by school authorities, particularly in a sparsely populated area with security challenges. SONATUR also provided a financial grant of 1 million CFA francs to support the school's operations.
The Bindougousso urban development site, spanning 304 hectares, is another key project for SONATUR. The site has 2,076 fully serviced plots, with infrastructure including roads, clean water, electricity, and public facilities. SONATUR aims to develop 25 hectares of the site for real estate, with the first phase featuring 66 villas. Construction company Ham-Mali-Burkina is building the villas, which are expected to be completed soon, with 75% of the work already done.
The 66 villas are part of a larger plan to develop over 2,000 homes, 378 shops, and stores on the 25-hectare site. Minister Sidibé noted that SONATUR is shifting its approach from simply selling serviced plots to engaging in real estate development. This new strategy aims to contribute to urban densification and limit urban sprawl. The project will include infrastructure such as roads, sanitation, and access to clean water and electricity.
However, the visit also revealed some delays in the site's development work. SONATUR officials assured that adjustments are being made to catch up with the schedule, with the goal of completing the work by mid-November 2026. This will enable future buyers to acquire plots and homes in a fully developed and serviced environment.
The SONATUR delegation also inspected the construction of a perimeter fence for a nearby cemetery, which is expected to improve security and preserve the dignity of the burial site. The project is valued at 149,309,933 CFA francs. Local authorities expressed satisfaction with SONATUR's efforts, highlighting the positive impact of these projects on the community.
