The Sofitel Essaouira Beach & Spa has officially reopened its doors after a major renovation. The 119-room hotel, operated by RISMA and Sofitel, aims to combine luxury, local culture, and territorial anchoring in the Atlantic coastal town of Essaouira. The hotel's renovation includes 119 rooms and suites, with nearly a third offering direct views of the Atlantic Ocean. All rooms feature spacious balconies overlooking an interior garden.

The hotel's design incorporates local materials such as marble, granite, and wood, while also integrating references to local craftsmanship and culture. Decorative elements inspired by traditional Gnawa art and music are also present throughout the hotel. The spa and beach restaurant are set to undergo a complete transformation by the end of 2027. The hotel's gastronomic offerings include several dining spaces, including Rivages, which combines local products with French cuisine.

The hotel's management team, including RISMA's General Director Sofia Lopez Benhamida and Sofitel's General Director Maud Bailly, emphasized the hotel's commitment to showcasing local culture and identity. Benhamida noted that Essaouira has "strong potential" as a tourist destination, while Bailly highlighted the hotel's aim to balance French elegance with the town's free-spirited and multicultural atmosphere.

The hotel has also prioritized territorial anchoring, with over 100 employees, 85% of whom are from Essaouira and its surrounding region. Women make up nearly 40% of the workforce, and over 40 employees have worked at the hotel for 10 to 20 years. RISMA has also announced two local partnerships, one with the Elkhir Women's Association to promote socio-professional insertion of women and another with Mahjouba Com to source local products.

The hotel's reopening coincides with an increase in air connectivity to Essaouira, including a direct flight from Casablanca offered by Royal Air Maroc. The hotel aims to capitalize on this momentum to strengthen Essaouira's position in the high-end tourism segment. RISMA and Sofitel hope to establish the Sofitel Essaouira Beach & Spa as a premier destination closely tied to the local culture and way of life.

The hotel's gastronomic offerings are designed to showcase local flavors and products, with a focus on sustainable and responsible practices. The Rivages restaurant serves dishes combining local ingredients with French influences, while the Oasis restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine by the pool. The hotel's bar, Orson's Club, provides a space for cocktails and live music.

With its renovated facilities and commitment to local culture, the Sofitel Essaouira Beach & Spa aims to become a leading luxury hotel in Essaouira. The hotel's management team is confident that the hotel will contribute to the growth of high-end tourism in the region and provide a unique experience for international travelers.
