Sixty young Guinean workers are set to travel to China for training in railway operations. The initiative, part of the Simandou Academy program, aims to equip them with skills for managing and operating future railway infrastructure in Guinea. The program is a key component of the Simandou 2040 project, designed to develop the country's railway sector. The training is being organized by the Compagnie du Transguinéen (CTG).

A departure ceremony was held at the Moribayah port site in Forécariah prefecture, attended by high-ranking government officials. The event was graced by Djiba Diakité, minister and president of the Simandou Strategic Committee, and General Amara Camara, minister and secretary-general of the Presidency. Other government members and local authorities were also present. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the development of Guinea's railway sector.

The training program is part of the government's efforts to increase local content and create employment opportunities. The CTG's deputy managing director, Dr. Moussa Bérété, emphasized the importance of the training and the responsibilities that come with it. The beneficiaries were selected through a recruitment process and have committed to completing the training and returning to the project.

The selected youths will undergo an intensive training program in China, focusing on railway operations and management. The program aims to transfer technical skills to the trainees, enabling them to effectively manage and operate Guinea's future railway infrastructure. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the country's economic development.

During the ceremony, Forécariah prefect Colonel Mamadou Lamarana Diallo praised the opportunity given to the selected youths, highlighting its potential to create local employment. He also emphasized the importance of discipline and hard work during their training period. The government officials encouraged the trainees to be ambassadors of their country during their stay in China.

As part of the event, the government delegation visited the Moribayah port installations to assess the progress of site development work. The visit aimed to evaluate the readiness of the infrastructure to support the Simandou megaproject. The delegation was briefed on the project's status and the planned infrastructure development.
