The Algerian government has awarded six concession contracts to investors for the development of new industrial projects in the Larbaâtache industrial zone, Boumerdès province. The projects, valued at a total of 9.43 billion Algerian dinars, are expected to create 1,329 direct jobs. The contracts were awarded by the Director-General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Omar Rekkache, in the presence of other officials.
The six projects cover various sectors, including gas production, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, industrial equipment, and agricultural product packaging. The largest project is led by AURES GAZ, which will produce compressed and liquefied gas on a 1.31-hectare site, with an investment of over 3.33 billion dinars and 380 direct jobs. Another significant project is by AMS TECH, which will establish a unit for manufacturing vision-sensitive equipment, investing 1.12 billion dinars and creating 500 direct jobs.
In the pharmaceutical sector, ALGERIAN COMPANY FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY will invest over 1.9 billion dinars in a manufacturing unit for pharmaceutical products, creating 105 direct jobs. FIRST REMED will develop a unit for cosmetics and personal hygiene products, investing over 1 billion dinars and creating 141 jobs. AHRAS INDUSTRIE will establish a unit for manufacturing equipment and materials for law enforcement, investing 1.08 billion dinars and creating 101 direct jobs.
MALAK B will develop an agricultural product packaging activity on a 3,018 m² site, investing over 1 billion dinars and creating 102 direct jobs. The AAPI Director-General also inspected ongoing investment projects in the Larbaâtache industrial zone, including an infant milk production plant by Baby Infant Nutrition, which is expected to start operations in July 2027 with a production capacity of 5,000 tons per year.
The AAPI Director-General also visited a project by BMINOX, which involves manufacturing machines and equipment for various industries, with an investment of 1.1 billion dinars. The unit is expected to produce 304 equipment units per year and create 130 direct jobs. Another project inspected was by BBGCA, which involves manufacturing aluminum packaging for non-alcoholic beverages, with an investment of 6 billion dinars and a planned production capacity of 800 million units per year.
The BBGCA project is presented as the first of its kind in Algeria and is expected to cover around 40% of the country's needs for aluminum packaging, estimated at nearly $120 million per year. The project will also create around 250 direct jobs. The AAPI Director-General emphasized that these investments align with the agency's goals of diversifying the national productive fabric and reducing imports.
The new industrial projects in Boumerdès province are expected to contribute significantly to the local economy and create much-needed jobs. The projects also align with the Algerian government's efforts to promote investment and reduce reliance on imports. Key officials, including the AAPI Director-General and the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), Kamel Moula, were present during the contract award ceremony.
