The proposed facility will comprise various units, including Obstetrics and Gynaecology wards, labour and delivery suites, operating theatres, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a High Dependency Unit. Additionally, it will feature an Intensive Care Unit, an In Vitro Fertilisation and Assisted Reproductive Technology Centre, and antenatal and postnatal clinics. Other facilities include fertility and reproductive health clinics, breastfeeding and family planning units, and an Emergency Obstetric Care Unit.
The new maternity block will also include a Diagnostic Imaging Department, laboratory and blood bank facilities, a Pharmacy Department, a Central Sterile Services Department, physiotherapy and rehabilitation units, and teaching, research, and conference facilities. When completed, the facility is expected to strengthen clinical training and research while offering patients and healthcare professionals a safer, more efficient, and modern environment.
