The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has carried out a significant reshuffle, transferring 13 senior and middle-ranking officers as part of an administrative reorganisation across its divisions and formations. This move is detailed in Transfer Order No. 246/10/2026, dated 2 October 2026, issued by the Directorate of Human Resource Management. The transfers involve a range of high-ranking officers, including one Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), six Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), three Superintendents of Police (SUPTs), and two Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).

Among the key changes, ACP John F. Tumbay, formerly Local Unit Commander (LUC) of Central Division, has been appointed Acting Director of Training. This appointment follows AIG Francis B. Meinday's medical leave. Additionally, ACP Khrushchev Kargbo has been transferred from Kissy Division to Port Loko Division as LUC. CSP Alphonso A. Fambulleh takes over as LUC of Kissy Division. These changes reflect a broader restructuring effort within the SLP.

The reshuffle also affects several other senior officers. CSP Emmanuel S. Kpulun has been posted to Central Division, CSP Osman I. Kamara to Kenema Division, CSP Joshua D. Faya to Masiaka Division, and CSP John B. Koroma to Harbour Division, all as Local Unit Commanders. At the Superintendent level, Supt. Edward K. A. Sesay moves to Kailahun Division as LUC, while Supt. Thaimu B. Sesay moves to the Secretariat (Operations).

Further postings include Supt. Akim Turay, who has been transferred to Waterloo Division as Operations Officer. Two Assistant Superintendents are also affected: ASP Sency Koroma moves to Daru Division as Support Officer, and ASP Alim K. Sesay transfers to Regional Headquarters Freetown-East as a General Duties officer. These changes are part of the SLP's routine human resource management.

The Sierra Leone Police states that these transfers aim to strengthen personnel deployment and leadership across its various formations. All affected officers are expected to assume their new assignments as directed. This move is seen as a strategic effort to enhance the operational effectiveness of the SLP.

The transfers reflect the SLP's ongoing efforts to reorganise and improve its internal structures. By moving experienced officers into new roles, the SLP aims to bring fresh perspectives and skills to different divisions and formations. This reshuffle is part of a broader strategy to enhance policing services in Sierra Leone.

The impact of these transfers on policing services in Sierra Leone remains to be seen. With the new postings in place, the SLP is expected to continue its efforts to maintain law and order across the country. The reshuffle demonstrates the SLP's commitment to effective personnel management and organisational development.
