The Permanent Secretary of Nigeria's State House, Temitope Fashedemi, has called on staff to demonstrate professionalism, responsiveness, efficiency, empathy, and ownership in their duties. He made this statement on Wednesday in Abuja, as the State House Ministerial Servicom Unit (MSU) commemorated the 2026 Customer Service Week. Fashedemi emphasized the importance of continuously seeking better ways to perform their duties.

Fashedemi, represented by Director of Administration, Idris Abdulkadir, stressed that the focus of the State House is to deliver seamless, efficient, and qualitative support to the President. He noted that service excellence should not be regarded as a one-week event, but as a continuous culture for the State House. The Permanent Secretary highlighted the significance of this year's celebration, which recognizes the challenges confronting the public service.

The State House MSU Nodal Officer, Tayo Fasipe, welcomed the event, noting that Customer Service Week is a global event that seeks to recognize the value of customers in business and governance. This year's theme, "The Extra Mile," focuses on encouraging staff to put in extra effort to ensure service delivery. Fasipe called on staff to always go "the extra mile" towards ensuring customers' satisfaction in their daily schedule.

The Acting National Coordinator of Servicom, Helen Lawal, represented by the Head of Operations, Ngozi Akinbodewa, also sent a goodwill message. She stated that the key objectives of the celebration include recognizing and appreciating individuals for exceptional service, boosting morale, encouraging exemplary behavior, and recommitting to service excellence.

According to a statement by the Director of Information, State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, the celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on the quality of service, recognize excellence, and renew institutional commitment to delivering services beyond meeting expectations. Fashedemi emphasized that staff should take personal responsibility for improving processes, listening to those they serve, and using resources wisely.

The Permanent Secretary encouraged staff to embrace innovation through strengthening collaboration and optimal utilization of available resources to improve service delivery processes. He noted that this would enable the State House to produce measurable and meaningful results rather than merely completing assignments or routine tasks.
