The Senegalese security forces have begun evaluating their coordination efforts for the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar. The assessment, led by Colonel Davy Koguila Mané, head of the Centre de coordination des opérations (CCO), aims to ensure a secure and successful event. The evaluation process involves visits to key command centers, including those of the sapeurs-pompiers, Armées, Gendarmerie nationale, and Police nationale.

Colonel Mané, accompanied by his deputies, Colonel Tafsir Dame Ndiaye and Commissioner Principal Balla Fall, visited the mixed command post in Saly. The goal of these visits was to assess the security measures in place, their functionality, and the coordination mechanisms between the different entities involved in securing the Games. This evaluation is crucial in ensuring that the security forces are adequately prepared to handle any potential security challenges.

A total of nearly 15,000 personnel have been mobilized to ensure the security of the 2026 Youth Olympics. These forces have been progressively reinforcing their presence on the ground since October 23, 2026. The different command centers are in direct liaison with the CCO, ensuring that they are well-coordinated and can respond promptly to any security concerns.

The security operation is overseen by the Comité national de coordination de la sécurité (CNS-JOJ), which is chaired by the Minister of Interior and Public Security. The operation relies on the complementarity of resources, the circulation of information, and synergy between the different forces. The primary objective is to ensure the protection of Olympic sites, participants, and the general public.

The security forces are working to guarantee a coordinated response to potential security challenges related to the event. The evaluation process will help identify areas for improvement and ensure that the security forces are adequately prepared. Colonel Mané's visits to key command centers are part of the ongoing efforts to assess and enhance the security measures in place.

The 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar will feature various events, including taekwondo, which has undergone reforms to make the competitions more exciting and offensive. The Senegalese team, known as the Lionceaux, has qualified for the quarterfinals in the 3x3 basketball event. The event is expected to bring together athletes from around the world, and the Senegalese security forces are working hard to ensure a safe and successful experience.

In addition to the security efforts, other initiatives are underway to support the success of the 2026 Youth Olympics. These include the training of new teachers and the development of infrastructure. The event is expected to have a positive impact on the local community and promote the values of sports and international cooperation.
