The Senegalese Ministry of Land, Air and Sea Transport (MITTA) has announced a special transport plan for the 2026 Youth Olympics opening ceremony, scheduled for October 31 at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. To facilitate the movement of thousands of expected spectators, the ministry will offer free public transport on presentation of a ceremony ticket. This measure applies to the Regional Express Train (TER), Dem Dikk buses on line 504A, the GTS network, and special shuttles set up for the event.

The TER will operate at eight-minute intervals from Dakar, while at Diamniadio station, passengers can take the 504A circular line to reach the stadium and other Olympic infrastructure. For those traveling from Thies, two GTS departures are scheduled for 3 pm and 3:40 pm. Additionally, special shuttles will serve several strategic points in Dakar, its suburbs, and the regions of Thies and Mbour.

For motorists, three exits from the A1 highway have been designated: exits 10 and 12 for the general public and exit 11 reserved for accredited persons and emergency vehicles. The P13, P14, and P15 parking lots, located north of the ministerial spheres, have been allocated for the public. The MITTA has also urged spectators to respect designated pedestrian routes and follow security agents' instructions.

To further ease travel, the MITTA recommends using the "CETUD Mobilités" application and the montrajetjoj.sn platform. These tools are expected to help manage the flow of spectators and reduce congestion on the roads. The ministry's efforts aim to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all attendees.

The 2026 Youth Olympics opening ceremony promises to be a major event, with thousands of spectators expected to attend. The MITTA's special transport measures are designed to accommodate the large influx of visitors and provide them with convenient and efficient travel options. By offering free public transport, the ministry hopes to encourage spectators to use public transportation and reduce traffic congestion.

In addition to the transport arrangements, the MITTA has also emphasized the importance of safety and security during the event. Spectators are advised to follow all instructions from security personnel and to be aware of their surroundings. The ministry has also urged attendees to plan their journeys in advance and to allow sufficient time to reach the stadium.

The successful implementation of these transport measures will not only enhance the experience of spectators but also showcase Senegal's ability to host large-scale international events. The 2026 Youth Olympics are expected to be a significant milestone for the country, and the MITTA's efforts will play a crucial role in ensuring the event's success.
