The Senegalese National Electricity Company (Senelec) has announced that electricity distribution in the country may face disruptions between October 3 and 5. The areas likely to be affected include the environs of Bel Air in the west. According to the company's communication and marketing department, the disruptions will be caused by the transition of electrical infrastructure from the Bel Air substation to a new, state-of-the-art substation.

The new equipment is part of a modernization and reinforcement program for electrical infrastructures, carried out with the support of the US Millennium Challenge Account. Senelec states that this new infrastructure will improve the quality of electricity supply in Dakar and enhance the reliability and security of the electrical network. The transition, scheduled from Saturday, October 3, to Monday, October 5, will require a temporary shutdown of certain infrastructure.

As a result of this transition, there will be a temporary reduction in the production capacity of the Karpowership central power plant. Senelec has apologized to its subscribers for any inconvenience this may cause. The company assures that the new infrastructure will enable it to better meet the constantly increasing demand for energy in the Senegalese capital.

The modernization program aims to address the growing energy needs of Dakar. The new substation is a last-generation facility that will play a crucial role in ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply. Senelec's efforts to upgrade its infrastructure are ongoing, with the goal of providing better service to its customers.

The disruptions are expected to be temporary and will be followed by improved electricity supply services. Senelec has urged its customers to be patient and understanding during this period. The company is working to minimize the impact of the disruptions and ensure a smooth transition to the new infrastructure.

Once the transition is complete, the new infrastructure is expected to provide a more reliable and efficient electricity supply to the people of Dakar. The Senegalese National Electricity Company remains committed to providing quality services to its subscribers and is working to ensure that the disruptions are minimized.

The successful implementation of this project will contribute to the overall development of Senegal's energy sector. The country's growing energy demands require continuous upgrades and modernization of its electrical infrastructure. Senelec's efforts in this regard are crucial to meeting these demands and ensuring a stable energy supply.
