A 25-year-old man, M. A. NIANG, has been brought before the prosecutor, Saliou DICKO, in Pikine-Guédiawaye, Senegal. He faces several charges, including rape with acts of barbarism and torture, blackmail, sequestration, and collection of personal data. According to sources, NIANG is suspected of sexually assaulting two uterine sisters.
The case came to light when a 27-year-old tailor, M. A. SALL, reported the incident to the Keur Massar territorial brigade. SALL had taken her younger sister, F. BA, in to help with household chores. However, SALL's husband suspected an affair between her and NIANG, leading to their separation. SALL then moved to Keur Massar with NIANG, while her younger sister also lived in the same residence.
An investigation revealed that NIANG had scanned his partner's WhatsApp QR code and discovered a conversation he deemed suspicious. This led to an altercation, during which NIANG allegedly forced his partner to engage in anal sex against her will. He also reportedly used his phone to film her naked. The victim received medical attention and subsequently filed a complaint with the Keur Massar brigade.
A medical certificate confirmed a temporary work incapacity of 15 days, along with evidence of anal sexual aggression and lesions observed by a gynecologist. As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that NIANG was also involved with F. BA, the younger sister of the first complainant. He allegedly pressured her into having sex by threatening to release intimate videos.
F. BA initially testified as a witness but later became a complainant in the case. During his interrogation, NIANG reportedly admitted to the crimes, stating that he had a habit of engaging in anal sex with M. A. SALL and that he had sought to "punish" her after she refused. He also acknowledged having sex with her younger sister, whom he claimed as his wife.
The case highlights the severity of sexual violence in Senegal and the need for effective measures to prevent and prosecute such crimes. Authorities have been urged to take a firm stance against perpetrators of sexual violence, particularly in cases involving vulnerable individuals such as women and minors.
The suspect, M. A. NIANG, is currently facing serious charges and may face severe penalties if convicted. Babacar NGOM reported the case, which was published in WalFadjri.
