The second edition of the International Salon of Health Professionals and Integration of Care, SIPSIS 2026, will take place from November 25 to 28, 2026, at the Ouaga 2000 International Conference Center in Burkina Faso. Under the high patronage of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the event was officially launched on November 6, 2026, during a press conference. This year's theme focuses on the health challenges of the 2027-2036 decade in Africa.
The event will highlight Mali and Niger as special guest countries. Dr. Adjima Combary, Director of Cabinet, representing the Minister of Health, emphasized the need to reassess the global approach to health to ensure the independence of African nations. He stressed that health sovereignty requires mobilizing a broader ecosystem beyond the classical health sector, incorporating sectors such as water, food, agriculture, environment, education, energy, and digital.
Launched in 2024, SIPSIS aims to contribute to the health sovereignty of the Sahel States Confederation and Africa by coordinating the health ecosystem and identifying priority areas for 2027-2036. The 2026 program includes scientific activities, exhibitions, B2B meetings, a specific "SIPSIS and Youth" segment, a field visit to the University Hospital Center of Pala and the Samandeni dam, and the "Night of the Health Ecosystem."
The event also features the "SIPSIS Connect Africa" platform, which will facilitate connections and visibility of innovations beyond the physical closure of the event. According to Dr. Combary, the expected benefits for Burkina Faso include the valorization of national capacities within the health ecosystem and potential economic support through the hosting of delegations.
At the level of the Sahel States Confederation, the Salon is expected to identify common priorities and complementarities, promoting joint projects, cooperation in production and supply, and better coordination in the face of health challenges. On the African continent, the event aims to enhance the circulation of knowledge, visibility of African innovations and therapeutic knowledge, and cooperation among institutions, enterprises, and researchers.
The outcomes of the event will be consolidated in a final document, the "Ouagadougou Declaration," which will provide a framework of recommendations for the national, regional, and continental levels. Interested parties can now register and access participation modalities on the official SIPSIS platform.
The SIPSIS 2026 event is poised to bring together health professionals, stakeholders, and innovators to address pressing health challenges in the Sahel region and Africa. By fostering collaboration and coordination, the event seeks to contribute to the health sovereignty of the region and promote sustainable development in the health sector.
