Schneider Electric, a global leader in electrical energy management and industrial automation, has presented its latest innovations produced in Algeria at the 14th edition of the Salon and Conference on Energy and Hydrogen in Africa and the Mediterranean (NAPEC-2026). The conference is being held from October 5 to 7, 2026, at the Oran Mohamed-Benahmed Convention Center. The company has developed a range of innovative solutions in Algeria in the field of electrical energy optimization and industrial automation.

Schneider Electric has been operating in Algeria for 60 years and has been producing equipment locally for 25 years. The company has two industrial production platforms in Sidi Rached, Tipaza, and Sidi Bel Abbès, with a workforce of 200 Algerian employees. Schneider Electric's local production sets it apart from its competitors, who mostly import equipment. The company's local production includes a wide range of electrical equipment, measurement solutions for electrical installation efficiency, and software that anticipates potential electrical installation issues.

Schneider Electric Algeria also has a training center that trains over 2,000 professionals, academics, and students each year. According to Riyad Bouanimba, Managing Director of Schneider Electric Algeria and Tunisia, the company has been a pioneer in technology transfer. Since 25 years, it has ensured technological transfer to its employees, including students recruited from its two industrial production platforms in Tipaza and Sidi Bel Abbès.

Schneider Electric's production in Algeria has a high integration rate, with 45% of components produced locally. The company aims to increase this rate further. Schneider Electric Algeria has ambitious projects, including expanding its production platforms and participating in strategic projects of the Algerian state in automation and electrical digitalization.

Schneider Electric Algeria works with historical partners Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, as well as their subsidiaries. The company is encouraged by the favorable business climate in Algeria, according to Riyad Bouanimba. Schneider Electric also has an export project, aiming to export equipment produced in Algeria to African countries, particularly in the Sahel region.

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) offers exporters several incentives, including customs duty exemptions and financial support from banks with payment facilities to encourage exports. Schneider Electric's export project is facilitated by the AfCFTA. Sonelgaz, an Algerian energy company, already exports electrical equipment, including electric vehicle charging stations, to Portugal and Italy.

Schneider Electric's participation in NAPEC 2026 highlights its commitment to the Algerian market and its confidence in the country's economic prospects. The company's innovations produced in Algeria are expected to contribute to the country's energy efficiency and industrial development. With its 25 years of experience in local production, Schneider Electric Algeria is well-positioned to support Algeria's economic growth.
