Saudi Arabia has introduced new travel restrictions on Kenya in response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak. The Saudi Press Agency announced that travellers arriving directly from Kenya, or those transiting through other countries after staying in Kenya or any country with an Ebola outbreak within 21 days, are banned from entering the country. This move is part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.

The travel restrictions also include a suspension of travel by Saudi citizens to Kenya and a halt on the issuance of all categories of visas to Kenyan travellers. Similar restrictions are already in place for travellers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan. These measures aim to contain the spread of Ebola, which has affected several African countries.

The multi-country Ebola outbreak has resulted in over 10,000 confirmed cases and 5,030 deaths across the continent. The Democratic Republic of the Congo accounts for most infections, with 10,351 cases and 5,026 deaths. Uganda has reported 20 cases and two deaths, while Kenya has recorded nine cases and two deaths. Nigeria is monitoring one imported case with no deaths reported.

In Kenya, the Ministry of Health reports that the situation remains stable and under control, with no new infections reported in over ten days. All nine cases recorded in the country have been linked to a single cluster associated with an infected traveller from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with no community transmission reported.

The Kenyan Ministry of Health has also reported that the first 20 contacts traced in connection with the outbreak have completed their 21-day quarantine and returned home. The remaining 98 contacts are expected to be released in phases from the following week. This development indicates that Kenya is making progress in managing the outbreak.

The Ebola outbreak has prompted various countries to implement travel restrictions and other precautionary measures. Saudi Arabia's decision to ban travellers from Kenya and suspend travel to the country is part of a broader effort to prevent the spread of the virus. Other countries have also implemented similar measures to protect their citizens.

The situation in Kenya and other affected countries remains under close monitoring, with health authorities working to contain the outbreak and prevent further spread of the virus. The implementation of travel restrictions and other measures aims to mitigate the impact of the outbreak and protect public health.
