Samsung Electronics Co. has launched its Galaxy Tab S12 lineup in Kenya, comprising the Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+. The tablets boast premium features, including AI capabilities and bundled creative apps, targeting students, professionals, and creators. The series offers enhanced performance, thinner designs, and advanced displays. The Tab S12 Ultra has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, while the Tab S12+ features a 12.6-inch screen.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra measures 5.1 millimeters in thickness, making it the thinnest Galaxy Tab Samsung has produced. Both tablets have peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits and carry an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Samsung claims the 3nm processor provides 61% faster neural processing, 19% faster CPU performance, and 17% better graphics compared to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. A redesigned 3D vapor chamber helps maintain performance during extended editing or design sessions.
The tablets have impressive battery life, with the Ultra lasting up to 23 hours and the Tab S12+ up to 21 hours. Using the 45-watt adapter, a full charge takes approximately 95 minutes. Both devices run Android 17 with One UI 9 and are eligible for up to seven OS upgrades and security updates. Jay Kim, executive vice president and head of the Customer Experience Office in Samsung's Mobile eXperience business, stated that the Galaxy Tab S12 series is designed for individuals who continually explore new ideas and develop new skills.
Each tablet comes with an S Pen and AI tools, including Note Assist, which summarizes notes in Samsung Notes, and Samsung Browser, which can summarize information across open tabs and surface previously viewed pages. Buyers receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, featuring Gemini and Gemini Notebook. Additionally, Adobe's Photoshop is pre-installed, offering four months of free access to the Photoshop mobile plan.
The tablets also come with a suite of bundled apps, including Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion, and Clip Studio Paint, valued at approximately $600. In Kenya, the Tab S12 Ultra is priced at KES 203,200 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and KES 230,300 for 12GB and 512GB. The Tab S12+ costs KES 176,000 for the 256GB model and KES 203,200 for the 512GB version.
The Galaxy Tab S12 series will be available in gray and silver from October 7 in select markets. Samsung offers various accessories, including the Pro Keyboard with a dedicated AI key and the Book Cover Keyboard Slim. Furthermore, Samsung Care+ coverage is available for accidental damage and extended warranty, providing customers with additional peace of mind.
