Safaricom has introduced a new plan called Family Share, which bundles Home Fibre subscriptions with mobile data and voice bundles that can be shared with up to five family members. This new offering allows both new and existing Home Fibre customers to sign up and receive a single bill for all services. The plan aims to make household connectivity spending more predictable and convenient. With Family Share, customers can manage their household's internet and mobile usage in one place.

The Family Share plan offers four tiers with varying fibre speeds and mobile allowances. The entry-level plan, Bronze, costs KES 3,749 and includes 40 Mbps fibre, 750 minutes, and 14 GB of mobile data. The Silver plan costs KES 5,100 and offers 60 Mbps, 1,000 minutes, and 21 GB of mobile data. The Gold plan is priced at KES 7,799 and provides 150 Mbps, 1,500 minutes, and 33 GB of mobile data. The top-tier Diamond plan costs KES 13,999 and features 500 Mbps, 1,500 minutes, and 33 GB of mobile data.

The main difference between the plans is the fibre speed, with the mobile allowance being identical for the Gold and Diamond plans. Customers who opt for the Diamond plan pay an additional KES 6,200 for a significant speed increase from 150 Mbps to 500 Mbps. In comparison, moving from the Bronze to Silver plan costs KES 1,351 more, while moving from Silver to Gold costs KES 2,699 more, with customers receiving additional speed, minutes, and data.

Safaricom's introduction of Family Share follows its growth in the fibre business, with active Fibre to the Home (FTTH) customers increasing by 27%. The company has also seen an increase in the share of connected homes with active subscriptions, rising from 66.8% to 71.0%. This growth indicates that Safaricom still has room to expand its customer base, and the Family Share plan aims to provide households with another reason to subscribe and stay with the company.

According to Safaricom's Chief Consumer Business Officer, Fawzia Ali, the Family Share plan is part of the company's Pata More initiative, which aims to provide customers with more value without added complexity. The plan is designed to cater to households with multiple users who work, learn, and travel in different places, allowing them to manage their connectivity spending more efficiently.

Customers can sign up for Safaricom's Home Fibre, 4G, and 5G Wi-Fi plans, including the Family Share plan, through the My OneApp app, by dialling *400#, or by visiting a Safaricom shop or authorized dealer. This convenient sign-up process allows customers to easily switch to the new plan and start enjoying the benefits of bundled Home Fibre and mobile services.

The Family Share plan is expected to provide households with a more streamlined and cost-effective way to manage their internet and mobile usage. With its flexible pricing tiers and convenient sign-up process, Safaricom aims to attract more customers and increase its market share in the Kenyan telecommunications industry.
